IPL Photofacial

Your skin has a natural capacity to regenerate, but the effects of age, sun damage, and environmental stressors will lead to damage over time. Sun spots, age, spots, freckles, and uneven texture and tone can leave your facial skin looking old and tired.

The Power of Light Energy

An IPL Photofacial is a unique treatment that employs the power of light to restore an even skin tone, removing hyperpigmentation and the redness of rosacea. The therapy has the added advantage of triggering natural collagen growth – you will see your skin improving over the weeks and months following treatment. Imagine fresh, firm, evenly-toned skin – it can be yours with an IPL Photofacial!

What is an IPL Photofacial?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The technology involves the use of high-powered pulses of light at scientifically researched wavelengths. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment in your skin and damaged blood vessels, causing the unwanted cells and vessels to be eradicated. IPL can also be used to target acne-causing bacteria in your skin prevent breakouts. In all, an IPL Photofacial can effectively treat:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Sun spots
  • Age spots
  • Melasma (a condition in which gray or brown patches appear on your skin)
  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Acne scars
  • Spider veins

The IPL Photofacial Experience

Of the most significant advantages of an IPL Photofacial is that it is fast and easy to experience. An appointment usually takes less than an hour from start to finish, and there is no downtime. Most patients report a feeling of warmth or slight stinging sensation during the treatment, but find it easy to tolerate. You may have some redness, like a mild sunburn, for a day or two, which you can hide with cosmetics – ensure you use sunscreen! Your skin will be super-sensitive to UV rays.

Within seven to ten days, you will see the darker areas gradually flake off with new, fresh skin emerging.  You may achieve the results you envisioned with a single treatment, but if you have more significant levels of hyperpigmentation, a series of IPL Photofacial treatments may be advised.
